International Women’s Month: Celebrating Women Business Owners

March marks the celebration of International Women’s Month, a time to recognize women’s incredible achievements and contributions. At Birchwood Law, we also take this opportunity to put the spotlight on women business owners, celebrating their successes and highlighting the positive impact they bring to the business landscape every single day. As advocates for women in business, we are particularly proud to support and assist women entrepreneurs in navigating complex legal matters, especially in the field of land use and zoning.

The latest Census Bureau data released by the US Small Business Administration shows that women business owners are playing a crucial role in shaping the U.S. economy. With ownership of over 12 million businesses, women entrepreneurs are making significant contributions to the business world by employing more than 10.1 million workers.

In 2022, the annual Biz2Credit Women-Owned Business Study found that women-owned businesses had higher earnings growth with a 27% increase compared to male-owned firms with a 22% increase.  According to the study, most women-owned firms (29%) belong to the Other Services (Except Public Administration) category. Retail is the second-largest category (16.5%), followed by Accommodation and Food Services (8.9%), Health Care and Social Assistance (7.2%), and Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation (6.1%).

At Birchwood Law, we are committed to supporting women business owners in any way we can. If you’re a woman-owned business and would like to connect, we’d love to hear from you! You can reach us at 224-955-7095 or at info@birchwood.law
